About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with a strong driving record.
• EMT experience and EMT License (EMT-B).
• Completion of Alabama Fire College and certification as a Firefighter II within one year.
• CPR Instructor certification within two years of hire date.
• Ability to work nonstandard hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to perform all firefighting duties and maintain NFPA standards.

Nice To Haves

• EMT Basic and Paramedic certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Responds on an apparatus to emergency scenes.
• Operates fire fighting equipment to extinguish fires in various situations.
• Performs clean up of fire scenes and salvages property.
• Provides basic and advanced life support emergency medical services.
• Independently assesses victims for illness and injuries and initiates proper treatment.
• Conducts fire prevention inspections and ensures compliance with fire codes.
• Participates in fire drills and department training programs.
• Prepares and maintains reports and records of activities and incidents.
• Models integrity and teamwork in all official contacts.
• Receives and transmits messages over department communications equipment.
