About The Position

As a Firefighter with the Adjutant General’s Department, you will be responsible for responding to airport/aircraft rescue and firefighting emergencies, suppressing fires, and providing emergency medical services. Your work will require quick thinking, teamwork, and adherence to strict safety standards to protect lives, property, and critical military infrastructure. Key responsibilities include: · Emergency Response: Respond to aircraft and structural fires, hazardous material incidents, medical emergencies, and spills. Follow tactical procedures to suppress fires, perform rescues, and protect evidence of fire causes. · Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate and maintain fire trucks, crash rescue vehicles, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), hoses, nozzles, power and hand tools, and other fire suppression equipment. · Training & Readiness: Attend and participate in required fire protection training, first aid, CPR, confined space rescue, and other technical programs. Work in compliance with Air Force and National Guard fire protection regulations. · Station & Safety Duties: Conduct facility inspections, maintain fire detection systems, issue permits, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. Participate in an ongoing physical fitness program.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Licenses & Certifications: o Valid driver’s license. o Must pass the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 physical and entry-level agility test. o Certification in Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations (IFSAC accredited). o Additional certification may be required based on department needs per AFMAN 32-2003 standards.
  • Physical Fitness: Must maintain compliance with NFPA 1582 standards and actively participate in physical fitness programs.
