About The Position

The Lakeville Fire Department is seeking full-time Firefighters to join their team as they adapt to the needs of a growing community. This role involves responding to emergencies, providing fire protection, emergency medical services, and engaging in public safety education. Firefighters will work alongside both career and Paid-on-Call Firefighters, contributing to community safety and departmental growth. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • I.F.S.A.C or ProBoard Accredited (NFPA 1001) Firefighter II Certification or equivalent.
  • I.F.S.A.C or ProBoard Accredited (NFPA 1072) Hazardous Materials Operations Certification or equivalent.
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician Basic or Advanced Certification.
  • State of Minnesota Licensed Firefighter upon employment.
  • NIMS IS-100, NIMS IS-200 and NIMS IS-700 certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in fire science, Fire Administration, Emergency Management or related field.
  • Knowledge of fire and building codes.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License.
  • Certified NREMT Paramedic.
  • Fire Inspector I certification.
  • Fire Apparatus Operator certification.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies in a safe, effective, and proficient manner.
  • Perform fire and/or EMS activities including emergency medical care, fire suppression, and rescue activities.
  • Operate Fire/EMS equipment and complete necessary tasks.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair department equipment as needed.
  • Complete checklists and report damaged or improperly functioning equipment.
  • Maintain facilities and perform housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Assist in fire prevention duties and education.
  • Conduct property inspections to ensure compliance with fire codes and regulations.
  • Conduct station tours for the public and community demonstrations.
  • Maintain all required EMS and firefighter certifications/licenses.
  • Stay current with department training expectations and developments.
  • May conduct training based on topic expertise.
  • Keep a superior officer informed of fire suppression developments.
