Requirements

  • Current registration by the State of Florida or National Registry as a Paramedic.
  • Current certification by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute in BLS CPR, and ACLS.
  • Certificate of Compliance from the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Possess a Florida State Certification or National Registry as a Paramedic.
  • Must have a Florida State Firefighter II certification.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Florida Fire Instructor I, II, or III.
  • State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification.
  • Previous work experience as a paramedic.
  • Driver Engineer experience.
  • Special Operations experience.
  • Hazardous Materials Technician certification.
  • Confined Space Technician Level certification.
  • High-Angle Technician or Rope I & II certification.
  • Trench Rescue certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fire suppression, emergency medical response, protocol based advanced life support and basic life support treatment and transport of the sick or injured as well as provide prevention activities.
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures in accordance with U.S. DOT EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum and State of Florida standards for Paramedic and State of Florida recertification requirements.
  • Gain advance knowledge of site campus, fire protection systems, and site-specific target hazards.
  • Use mechanical aptitude and ability to protect property from fires, hazardous spills, and proper usage of emergency medical equipment and supplies.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer-focused, working relationships with associates, Pratt & Whitney site employees and visitors.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions in the delivery of fire suppression actions, emergency medical service delivery and all prevention-related activities.
  • Utilize physical aptitude to perform prolonged and difficult work fire prevention, hazardous response, fire suppression and medical interventions in and under adverse conditions.
  • Learn a wide variety of fire suppression, prevention, and emergency medical response duties within a reasonable training period.
  • Learn new fire prevention, suppression, hazardous mitigation and emergency medical methods and techniques.
