About The Position
The Saint Paul Fire Department is conducting a recruitment process for Firefighter (Paramedic/EMT) Lateral Transfers and will utilize the Civil Service Transfer Rule to fill these positions. The position involves performing work as directed by a superior, in the protection of life and property from fire and other hazards, extinguishing fires, treating medical emergencies, and inspecting property. Firefighters respond to emergency medical calls, providing basic and/or advanced level life support to ensure that life-threatening situations and potentially serious injuries are recognized and cared for appropriately. They perform firefighting tasks, rescue operations, and other emergency response actions under stressful conditions, assist with special rescue operations and crowd control, and maintain complete response readiness at all times while working a 24-hour shift.
