NASCAR San Diego is looking for certified fire rescue professionals that will interact with our guests and professional racing team participants during racing events and perform fire and EMS response functions. This is a part-time seasonal position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Perform Fire and EMS response functions. • Shifts range from 6-16 hours depending on the event. • Practice and maintain a professional appearance and work ethic. • Includes but not limited to Pit Road, Garages, Fuel Island, or On-Track Firefighting. • Responds to and renders assistance in emergency cases. • Cleans and inspects equipment and apparatus after returning from a fire. • Inspects equipment and apparatus and notifies Supervisor of any defect. • Keeps fire truck or designated area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. • Participates in training activities and instruction sessions. • Acquires and retains a thorough knowledge of the racetrack, including station numbers, emergency district locations, buildings, water supply, unusual hazards, and related items. • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with track-specific and NASCAR policies and procedures. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS • Current state Fire I and/or II certification (Minimum Standards). • Current BLS CPR card (ASHI, American Red Cross and American Heart accepted). • Current State EMT Basic OR Paramedic Certificate (National Registry may be accepted while the candidate applies for State Certification). • Current ACLS card (Paramedics) (ASHI, American Red Cross and American Heart accepted). • EVOC certificate or equivalent. • PALS or PEPP cert preferred, but not required (Paramedics). • Valid state driver’s license. • Must successfully pass a background check and driving record check. • Must attend mandatory annual training and complete required online training initially and annually as a condition of employment. • Must successfully pass BLS or ACLS protocol test as required by the emergency services medical director. • Preference will be given to candidates that have a verifiable affiliation with a State or City Public Safety or EMS agency. OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum age 18 years old. • Strong communication skills including written reports. • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions for extended periods. • Must be familiar with the National Incident Management System and chain of command. • Must adhere to the company’s substance abuse policy (SAP). • Reliable transportation to and from the track location.
