About The Position

IOWA SPEEDWAY Located near Des Moines, Iowa Speedway joined the NASCAR family of tracks in 2013. Known as the "Fastest Short Track on the Planet", Iowa Speedway plays host to two major race weekends a year, welcoming the ARCA Menards Series and the NTT INDYCAR Series. The track was designed by NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace. Iowa Speedway is hiring certified fire rescue professionals that will interact with our guests and professional racing team participants during racing events and perform fire and EMS response functions. This is a part-time seasonal position. 2026 Required dates to work: Attend NASCAR Fire Safety Training on May 22 or 23, 2026. New hires are required to work the Iowa Corn 350 August 7-9 weekend

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum age 18 years old.
  • Strong communication skills including written reports.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Must be familiar with the National Incident Management System and chain of command.
  • Must adhere to the company’s substance abuse policy (SAP).
  • Reliable transportation to and from the track location.
  • Current state Fire I and/or II certification (Minimum Standards) preferred.
  • Current BLS CPR card (ASHI, American Red Cross and American Heart accepted) preferred.
  • State EMT or Paramedic License preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a driving record check.
  • Must attend mandatory annual training and complete required online training initially and annually as a condition of employment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that have a verifiable affiliation with a State or City Public Safety or EMS agency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Fire and EMS response functions.
  • Shifts range from 6-16 hours depending on the event.
  • Practice and maintain a professional appearance and work ethic.
  • Includes but not limited to Pit Road, Garages, or On-Track Firefighting.
  • Responds to and renders assistance in emergency cases.
  • Cleans and inspects equipment and apparatus after returning from a fire.
  • Inspects equipment and apparatus and notifies Supervisor of any defect.
  • Keeps fire truck or designated area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participates in training activities and instruction sessions.
  • Acquires and retains a thorough knowledge of the racetrack, including station numbers, emergency district locations, buildings, water supply, unusual hazards, and related items.
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with track-specific and NASCAR policies and procedures.
