About The Position

The Firefighter 1 position with the State of Nevada involves managing, supervising, and participating in wildland fire suppression, prevention, education, and resource management. Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education.
• One year of firefighting experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Nevada commercial driver's license with required endorsements.
• Must pass a background investigation prior to employment.
• Must obtain additional certifications as required by the agency.
• Must pass a medical examination and physical agility test.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise wildland fire suppression activities.

• Engage in wildfire prevention, suppression, and rehabilitation efforts.
• Conduct fuels reduction treatments and natural resource restoration activities.
• Educate the public on fire safety and prevention.
