  • Ability to pass criminal history and background investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) to evaluate firearm purchase and license applications.
  • Make independent decisions regarding the approval or disapproval of applications.

  • Verify the identity of applicants through criminal history records, protection from abuse orders, and mental health records.
  • Determine if an applicant is wanted based on provided information and coordinate with law enforcement if necessary.
  • Interpret current and former state and federal laws to make informed decisions on applications.
