About The Position

Inertia has a part-time opening for a Firearm Specialist. Inertia is a forward-thinking company developing fusion energy for future deployment on the electrical grid. You will be responsible for the selection and operation of gas guns used to fire targets into the development system for injecting the fusion targets into the fusion chamber. This role necessitates a well-rounded knowledge base that includes ballistics, ammunition specifications, and the legal regulations surrounding firearm ownership and usage. You will characterize and implement the installation of conventional gas guns and advise engineers in the development of custom gas guns. This is a part-time position on-site in Livermore, CA reporting to the lead engineer for the Injector subsystem of the fusion power plant. This position permits the candidate to use their extensive knowledge of firearms to contribute to a unique technology development effort.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working with firearms
  • Certified firearms armorer
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of various firearm models and their specific functions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in using firearm maintenance tools and equipment
  • Familiarity with both federal and state firearm regulations
  • Ability to conduct firearm safety training sessions
  • Basic knowledge of firearm mechanics and safety protocols
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Physical ability to lift and handle firearms and related equipment
  • Willingness to comply with all safety procedures and guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Assist in selecting and purchasing firearms and related accessories
  • Characterize the firearm performance (velocity, accuracy, etc.) to establish the applicability to the desired application
  • Advise engineers and technicians on the appropriate installation , operation, safety and regulatory requirements of the firearms usage.
  • Operate the gas gun injectors within the Injection development system
  • Conduct safety demonstrations and provide guidance on proper firearm usage
  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on various types of firearms
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local firearm laws and regulations
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock levels
  • Inspect incoming firearms for quality and safety standards
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in firearm technology and industry trends
  • Provide expert advice on firearm (gas gun) customization and modification
