About The Position

The Fire Training Officer 2 position is a full-time role within the Ohio Department of Commerce, specifically in the Division of the State Fire Marshal. This position is responsible for instructing and evaluating students in various training programs at the Ohio Fire Academy, ensuring safety during training, and maintaining compliance with national fire protection standards. The role also involves counseling students, conducting skill testing, and reviewing training materials to enhance educational offerings.

Requirements

• Certified as Public Safety Instructor in firefighting by Department of Public Safety pursuant to Section 4765.55 of Revised Code.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and evaluates students in the Ohio Fire Academy's various training programs.
• Ensures student safety in classroom and on training grounds.
• Counsels students and conducts skill testing (i.e., IFSAC Accreditation).
• Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates programs, methods, materials, and equipment to ensure compliance with NFPA standards.
• Tracks and maintains student course records.
