The Fire Sprinkler System Designer position in Ocoee, FL, is a full-time role responsible for the design and layout of fire sprinkler systems and alarm designs across multiple projects. The designer will ensure that all work complies with relevant codes and ordinances, as well as the contracted scope of work. This role involves completing permit drawings and performing hydraulic calculations to ensure the systems operate effectively. The designer will apply their knowledge of system operations and adhere to planned blueprint instructions, with supervision provided by a Fire Protection Engineer. The designer will be required to utilize CPVC and/or steel pipe in their designs, creating detailed drawings using Auto-Cad version 2000 or newer. These drawings must be neat, orderly, and contain all necessary information for field installation. The designer is expected to achieve a yearly average of 100% or less of estimated engineering labor costs, indicating efficiency and accuracy in their work. Hydraulic calculations are a critical part of the job, and the designer must ensure that design areas and calculations meet the same cost efficiency standards. Additionally, the designer will prepare stock lists for each job, ensuring that all lists are accurate and complete when compared to actual installations. Timely submission of job drawings to the appropriate authorities is essential, including providing the correct number of plans, related material data, and calculations to contractors, subcontractors, insurance companies, and building or fire officials for approval. Effective communication skills are vital, as the designer will need to follow up on plans to ensure proper permitting and avoid delays in project progress. Keeping track of all jobs and providing accurate updates to contractors and owners regarding progress and design requirements is also a key responsibility. The designer will be expected to make necessary corrections to plans based on field changes and perform other related duties as assigned.
