About The Position

The Fire Sprinkler Designer at Impact Fire Services is responsible for designing fire protection sprinkler systems using CAD equipment. This role focuses on creating detailed layouts and drawings to ensure accurate installation and compliance with safety standards. The designer will collaborate with engineering staff, review work orders, and submit design plans for approval, all while maintaining a strong emphasis on customer service and support.

Requirements

  • NICET level II or higher, Fire Protection Industry licensing or equivalent.
  • Experience in the fire protection design field required.
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with design and fire sprinkler terminology.
  • Ability to read blueprints for fire sprinkler layout.
  • Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers.
  • Sound working knowledge of NFPA 13 and related codes.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or SprinkCAD.
  • Ability to learn applicable installation, inspection, and servicing codes.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Knowledge of CAD Design software and Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Make copies of drawings and maintain information regarding changes to the database.
  • Design fire protection sprinkler systems with accuracy and detail to minimize design errors during installation.
  • Review work orders and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions for design.
  • Calculate figures to convert design dimensions for production and installation processes.
  • Submit design plans for approval and obtain necessary permits.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design staff to determine modifications and enter editing information into the system.
  • Produce graphic representations of designs for review and approval.
  • Create final sketches of proposed drawings, checking dimensions and materials used.
  • Revise size, shape, and arrangement of parts to create practical design drawings.
  • Draft detailed multi-view drawings of layouts and systems.
