About The Position

The Fire Sprinkler Designer is responsible for designing fire protection systems for industrial, commercial, and residential applications, completing project designs and submittals. This role involves designing fire protection sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with few design errors. The designer will submit design plans to the proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required. They will also calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production, design fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job, and review work orders and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design. Additionally, the designer will prepare submittal packages and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval, prepare fabrication lists for pipe fabrication vendors, requisition materials for jobs, perform field surveys to ensure design appropriateness for structures, assist field personnel with design-related installation issues, and prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NICET II Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoSprink preferred, SprinkCad, AutoCad, or HydroCAD, Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
