Fire Sprinkler Apprentice
About The Position
This position is considered a trainee who is learning the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. This position may be responsible for site clean-up, unloading, staging, and distributing work material to other employees at a job site. Position will also cut and thread pipe. May install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter. Position receives guidance and direction regarding day-to-day work tasks from a Sprinkler Fitter.The Apprentice is also responsible for assisting in maintaining a clean, well-organized vehicle and ensuring a safe environment for his/herself, co-workers, and customers.
Requirements
- Basic mechanical and math skills
- Must exhibit the initiative to learn the skills of the trade
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Responsibilities
- Install, test, and service fire sprinkler systems
- Cut and thread pipe and manage material
- Assist in the installation of valves, couplings, and other fittings
- Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment
- Learn construction project skills, including reading blue prints
