About The Position
The City of Santa Barbara Fire Department is seeking a knowledgeable Fire Services Specialist. The Fire Services Specialist works under the direction of the Fire Marshal and the Fire Inspector II assigned to the Wildland Interface Program, providing administrative support and technical assistance for the City of Santa Barbara's High Fire Hazard Area programs. Duties may include initiating and performing defensible space evaluations, providing direction for vegetation management projects including assisting with contract administration and supervising contractors, receiving and handling complaints, questions and requests from the public including performing code compliance enforcement, inspections and follow-up, writing requests for proposals, preparing estimates of project costs, supervising/administering, and maintaining associated financial records including preparation of reports and necessary documentation which incorporates any outside departmental funds, such as grants, conducting wildland fire public education and outreach presentations including presenting program policies and procedures to officials of public and private agencies, and may respond to emergency situations and perform a variety of office operations, special projects and assignments or other duties that may be required. This is a classified, non-safety position. Hybrid/Flexible Work Schedule: This position has the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. Schedules are dependent upon operational needs and are subject to change. Details of teleworking considerations can be addressed during the interview process.
