Overview: HGA's Fire Protection Engineering team is growing and we want you on our team! Washington, DC At HGA, you won’t just design systems — you’ll help shape the safety of hospitals, labs, museums, corporate HQs, and some of the most inspiring spaces in the country. Join our collaborative, multidisciplinary team and work alongside other design professionals to deliver innovative fire protection solutions for a diverse range of projects. In this role you will: Participate in the design and/or review of fire protection and life safety systems on multi-discipline projects. Coordinate with and support other A/E disciplines. Participate in design review meetings and workshops. Assist with preparation of comprehensive fire protection packages including fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety. Create specification documentation for fire alarm and fire suppression systems. Perform fire suppression and alarm systems calculations. Evaluate building and life safety requirements including building area and height limitations, building construction types, fire resistive assemblies and opening protections, occupancy classifications, hazards, building egress, and active and passive smoke management systems. Provide construction administration support including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, the review of contractor shop drawings and calculations, field inspections, and witnessing testing of fire protection systems. Coordinate with all applicable local authority departments to obtain approval at all stages of the project, to include creation of code modification requests and engineering judgements. perform site evaluations and document existing fire protection systems. Maintain compliance with company and site safety policies. Perform other duties as assigned.
