Job Summary This position is responsible for the effective coordination, development and implementation of the BV Fire Protection Program requirements to ensure compliance with regulations, industry and site standards. Job Description Key Accountabilities: Responsible for ensuring that Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Plant maintains compliance with regulatory commitments, NEIL Loss Control Standards, associated NFPA Codes and Standards and site procedures. Develops, schedules, conducts, and critiques Fire Brigade drills to ensure fire-fighting practices meet industry levels of excellence. Oversees the station’s compliance with transient combustible, ignition source and fire watch programs. Ensuring that impairments to Fire Protection Systems/Equipment receive appropriate compensatory measures through the Impairment Process. Coordinates vendor contracts for Fire Protection services as required. Maintains procedures associated with the Fire Protection program, including fire pre-plans for firefighting. Review and approval of the Fire Protection Training Program and materials. Coordinates with the Nuclear Insurance Personnel on fire protection and property loss prevention matters. Providing information, guidance and assistance to any department responsible for implementing the fire protection program. Participates as necessary as an ERO member and responds to call-ins. Develop Risk Management Actions for On-Line and Outage fire risk mitigation. Must be willing to work overtime, shift work and accept callouts as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science or related field with 5-7 years work related experience in fire protection, inspection or code compliance OR High School Diploma/GED with 10 -12 years of work related experience in fire protection, inspection or code compliance
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of the requirements of the Fire Protection Program and the impact to BV.
  • Ability to maintain industry involvement related to fire protection.
  • Ability to oversee budgetary needs for fire protection program.
  • Ability to investigate, complete and report site fire incident reports IAW NEIL and INPO requirements.
  • Ability to interact with Engineering, Operations, Training, Maintenance and Security to ensure plant activities and modifications do not compromise fire protection standards and fire-fighting requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role at a municipal fire department a plus
  • Experience in nuclear fire protection a plus
  • NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) a plus
