About the position

Salary ranges from $36,230 to $75,722 per year, with a pay scale of GS 4 - 7. This position is permanent, full-time, and requires occasional travel. The job family is Dispatching (2151) and does not require a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Processes resource order requests for personnel, equipment, supplies, and/or aircraft for all types of incidents.
  • Provides assistance on problems encountered by lower-level dispatch personnel.
  • Coordinates with other dispatch organizations on mobilization, reassignment, and demobilization of resources.
  • Determines the status of available resources and ensures this information is made available in a timely manner.
  • Performs intelligence duties including resource availability status, management briefings, incident statistics, historical fire and weather analysis, indices charts, mobilization response data, and situation reporting.
  • Operates and/or directs the operation of various dispatch telecommunications systems.
  • Inputs data into fire-related computer applications.
  • Monitors and ensures completion of required records, reports, and summaries.
  • Consolidates and inputs fire weather data into weather application software.
  • Reviews internal operating procedures and systems, implements improvements, and develops operating plans and mobilization guides.
  • Provides technical guidance, orientation, and training to other dispatchers.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must not hold an active real estate license or have an interest in firms with interest in Federal Lands.
  • Direct Deposit Required.
  • Appointment subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • May require a one-year probationary period.
  • Must pass a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in dispatch and dispatch office functions related to law enforcement or wildland fire suppression activities.
  • Graduate level education directly related to this position.
