The Fire Lieutenant serves as a first-line supervisor responsible for leading a fire company during emergency and non-emergency operations. This role provides direction to firefighters, oversees daily station activities, ensures compliance with department policies, and assists with training, fire prevention, and community outreach. The Fire Lieutenant plays a critical role in maintaining readiness, operational effectiveness, and safety for all assigned personnel. While there are routine and essential duties, no day is the same; from day-long training sessions to responding to an activated fire alarm, fighting a structure fire, responding to low and high acuity medical emergencies, an emerging wildland incident to performing life safety education or public education activity in the community are all within the expectations of EFR personnel. The Lieutenant position will also be assigned additional duties which may include attending meetings, training administration and other duties relative to the position and the agency.
