About the position

The Fire Installer II position at Johnson Controls involves the installation, programming, configuration, commissioning, and servicing of Fire Alarm Systems and related building system products. The role requires collaboration with project managers and other trades to ensure timely project execution while adhering to safety policies and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, configure, commission, and service Fire Alarm Systems including Simplex, Fike, and Kidde.
  • Execute projects on time and within allocated installation hours.
  • Work with the project manager to resolve discrepancies and coordination problems.
  • Read and interpret complicated blueprints, diagrams, and operational product manuals.
  • Coordinate installation activities with all trades to optimize installation time.
  • Attend all required site meetings and instruct customers on equipment operation.
  • Conduct simulations and answer customer questions.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills and communicate with district staff and customers.
  • Complete project documentation in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and SimplexGrinnell safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and operational/product manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter usage, and commissioning devices.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual positions such as climbing ladders and working in crawl spaces.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and possible overtime/overnight stays.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to lead and work well with team members.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving record requirements.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

Nice-to-haves

  • NICET Level II certification.
  • Knowledge of local Fire Codes.
