About The Position

The Fire Inspector ensures the integrity and compliance of fire detection, protection, and suppression systems through inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities at the Technical Center. The William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace's normal hours of operation (NHO) are 6:00 A.M. through 6:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid New Jersey State Fire Official License to act as fire inspectors for the Technical Center.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience with inspection, testing, troubleshooting and repair of fire detection, protection, and suppression systems.
  • Contractor personnel who perform maintenance on Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS)-containing fire suppression systems are required to be trained following 40 CFR 82.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
  • Candidates must pass a background check prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire detection, protection, and suppression systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable fire codes and safety regulations.
  • Document inspection results and maintain detailed records.
  • Recommend preventive maintenance and system improvements.
  • Respond to fire-safety incidents and provide technical support.
  • Participate in training and emergency drills.
  • Coordinate with other departments on fire-protection projects.
