About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Fire Inspector to join our team in Hawthorne, NV to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Fire Inspector will work with the Fire Chief to plan and develop policies and establish goals and objectives for the department and specifically for the assigned platoon. Serve as Special Staff Officer to the Chief. Work will be in close proximity to and or in a demilitarization facility. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist engine companies when needed and respond to all emergencies. Serve as supervisor for secondary crew when necessary. Responsible for life safety through Fire Inspection/Prevention Program. Testing and inspections of CO2 Mercury alarm and fire suppression systems. Filling out forms for fire drills, inspections and sprinklers. Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual building inspections. Testing and minor maintenance of fire alarms, fire suppression systems and building inspections. Input of records involving the fire prevention program. Will perform as the Fire Department Safety Officer. Program manager of structural turnout gear. Testing, maintenance, issuance & replacement. Plan reviews. Will perform lectures, lead discussions, and provide training in firefighting techniques and prevention. Coordination of Fire Prevention Week. Based on knowledge, training, and known lessons learned will recommend changes in Standing Operating Procedures to improve all systems, procedures, and responsiveness. Will supervise the preparation of required reports and records. Hours are 4-10’s but may be subject to working overtime on 24-hour shifts. May be required to work overtime or varying hours to include shift work. Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record. Participate in practice drills, demonstrations, classroom study, lectures, and video presentations pertaining to Fire Prevention. Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees. Perform all work in compliance with permits and regulations. Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years experience in the fire service – full time, part time, volunteer or technical training.
  • State of Nevada Firefighter I & II certification required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment
  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement
  • Applicant must be physically fit to withstand extreme heat, cold, and smoke. Perform arduous climbing, lifting, raising, running, and crawling.
  • Applicant must be able to use simple formulas to compute engine pressures for providing adequate flow of water at the nozzle.
  • Must be able to operate auxiliary equipment such as Hurst Rescue.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must also be able to obtain and maintain a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System. US Citizenship is required to obtain this Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Nevada certified Fire Officer I and Technical Fire Protection/Prevention training, preferred.
