About The Position

Associated Fire Protection is seeking a skilled Fire Extinguisher and Kitchen Systems Technician to join our team. As a Fire Extinguisher and Kitchen System Technician, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing portable fire extinguisher and kitchen fire suppression systems. Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of construction best practices, equipment maintenance, and use, and OHSA guidelines is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform installations.
  • Must be able to obtain any licenses or certifications as required in the area that you are working.
  • Experience working with fire protection and suppression systems is preferred.
  • Perform simple tasks independently.
  • Knowledge of local and national fire protection codes, including but not limited to NFPA.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer, phone and tablet literate.
  • Ability to perform physical and mental functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and or any other applicable background checks or screens.
  • Well organized, self-motivated, flexible and a team player.
  • Must be able to drive to and from jobs and have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Emergency Service shifts are a requirement for this job.
  • Ability to work on Job sites that may include construction sites and other locations where personal protective equipment will be required, and work in confined spaces.
  • The position has frequent periods of stress.
  • Job sites may include schools, hospitals, jails, pharmaceutical companies and other companies that may require additional background checks and medical and drug screens.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, testing, repair, recharge, and inspections on portable fire extinguishers and kitchen suppression systems, as well as other types of fire protection equipment and systems as needed in accordance with NFPA, local and state codes.
  • Complete inspection reports and repair work orders via mobile device and submit them on a timely basis.
  • Pull material for jobs as required.
  • Perform fire extinguisher training as needed.
  • Interact with customers on the job in a professional manner.
  • Communicate with customers to review work and answer any service, quality or technical questions.
  • Other job specific functions may be required depending on level.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service.
