Job Summary: Responsible for supervision of fire prevention/protection and emergency response activities including Incipient Stage firefighting personnel. Reports to Site Security Management. Ensure full compliance with General Motors Fire Prevention/Protection Manual, applicable NFPA codes, and all local, state, and federal regulations. Oversee fire prevention, fire suppression systems maintenance, testing, and impairment management. Administer and maintain the hot work permit program in accordance with GM and regulatory requirements. Lead emergency response planning, preparedness, and execution for site-specific scenarios. Develop, implement, and support fire and safety training programs, including monthly drills and emergency exercises. Conduct quarterly and annual compliance reviews using the Security Compliance System; track corrective actions and recommendations. Maintain accurate records for training, inspections, maintenance, and compliance per regulatory and GM requirements. Audit facilities to ensure adherence to fire prevention and protection policies and drive consistency across operations. Coordinate fire equipment inspection, certification, and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance. Manage all fire protection system impairments to ensure timely resolution and proper documentation. Interface with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and local/state fire authorities. Participate in pre-emergency planning and coordinate external fire department visits. Respond to site emergencies in accordance with established procedures. Analyze incident reports, identify trends, and implement corrective actions. Support plant construction, renovation, and demolition projects to ensure fire safety compliance. Participate in Loss Prevention Surveys. Provide recommendations to improve workflow, reporting efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Maintain all records in accordance with GM record retention policies. Supervise security staff in fire-related functions, as assigned. Where applicable, support advanced emergency services such as structural firefighting, confined space rescue, and EMT programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. Any deviations from the minimum educational requirement must meet the approval of General Motors Global Security.
  • Remain current with governmental regulations pertaining to fire prevention / protection and emergency response planning.
  • Minimum of 4 years of fire prevention/protection experience or equivalent fire education required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision.
  • Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills needed to analyze complex data and develop reasonable analysis, appropriate conclusions and/ or innovative solutions.

  • Knowledge of multiple languages is beneficial but not required.
