About The Position
The City of Redwood City is seeking a dedicated and experienced Fire Chief to lead its Fire Department. This position is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community through effective fire prevention, emergency response, and community engagement. The Fire Chief will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the Fire Department, including fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, and public education. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a commitment to community service, and the ability to work collaboratively with other city departments and community organizations. As the Fire Chief, you will be expected to develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the effectiveness of the Fire Department. This includes managing budgets, personnel, and resources to ensure optimal service delivery. You will also be responsible for fostering a culture of safety and professionalism within the department, ensuring that all personnel are well-trained and equipped to handle emergencies. The Fire Chief will serve as a key member of the city’s management team, providing guidance and support to the City Manager and City Council on fire-related issues and policies. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Fire Chief will engage with the community to promote fire safety awareness and prevention programs. This role requires a proactive approach to building relationships with community members, local businesses, and other stakeholders to enhance public safety initiatives. The Fire Chief will also represent the department at public meetings, community events, and in interactions with the media, ensuring transparency and accountability in all departmental activities.
