Position Overview: The Service Technician is responsible for the servicing of Residential and Commercial Burglar, Fire, Access Control and CCTV Systems to company standards. This position reports to the Service Manager. Key duties & Responsibilities: Please note the essential functions may vary depending on department size, organizational structure and/or geographic location. The Service Technician will be required to perform these general functions: Establish positive relationship with customers, both residential and commercial Explain service processes to customers. Service systems in a timely manner, aligning to company standards. Perform system tests and make adjustments as necessary. Complete all necessary paperwork for each job as per company standards. Perform all duties safely and responsibly to avoid injury, damage to property, and loss of materials. Work independently on different residential and commercial job sites. Additional detailed responsibilities include: Residential and Commercial Burglar Systems Must be well versed in all different types of alarm panels. Must understand the functionality of different burglar and/or life safety protection devices such as Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Smoke/Heat Detectors, Flood Detectors and Temperature Sensors. Commercial Fire Systems Installation of commercial fire systems to NFPA Standards Inspection and testing of commercial fire systems. Programming relays, setting up fire recalls and shunt trips. CCTV Systems Install and service Analog and/or IP-based equipment. Connect to networks for remote viewing. Must possess basic networking skills for port forwarding. Programming camera and IP Addresses Office Management Pull parts from warehouse for service tickets and installations. Responsible for picking up packages/parts at UPS store. Responsible for managing inventory for Binkley warehouse.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communication systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in using computers and related software.
  • Capable of following both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Physically able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing 50-70 lbs., and work in challenging positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 40 feet, as well as confined spaces like ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer needs.
  • Availability for overnight travel as required.
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to delivering quality support.
  • Maintain and manage truck inventory to ensure prompt and efficient service.
  • Consistently follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Maintain any licenses required by National, State, and Local regulations.
