About The Position

The Fire Alarm Technician position at Johnson Controls involves installing, programming, testing, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems and related building systems products. The role requires effective organization and utilization of technical resources to ensure efficient task execution, along with strong communication and customer service skills. Technicians will work in a collaborative environment, focusing on safety and quality service delivery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years' related experience in Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, Nurse Call & Security Systems.
  • Knowledge of major fire alarm equipment brands such as Notifier and Simplex Fire systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes (i.e. NFPA 72, NFPA 70).
  • Strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 50 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of electronic and digital test equipment.
  • Basic understanding of network concepts and architectures.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade School in Electronics.
  • NICET certification (expected to obtain if not currently held).
  • Prior security/access control/intrusion experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, test, and troubleshoot Conventional and Addressable Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Organize and utilize technical resources and information for efficient task execution.
  • Respond to customer service calls and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and operational manuals.
  • Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet specifications.
  • Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in after-hours service program as needed.
