About The Position

Fire Alarm & Suppression Technician (Travel Position) Are you a certified fire systems professional looking for a dynamic travel role with meaningful impact? We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Fire Alarm & Suppression Systems Inspector to join our Fire Team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring life safety systems are fully operational and compliant—particularly within healthcare environments. This is a travel-based role. You’ll be home most weekends, with some weeks dedicated to reporting and training. Occasional weekend travel is required. Position Summary As a Fire Systems Inspector, you will perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on fire alarm and fire suppression systems. You will maintain compliance with applicable codes, document all activities thoroughly, and coordinate with site personnel electronically and by phone. You must be organized, independent, and capable of maintaining a regular inspection schedule while managing reports, travel documentation, and certifications.

Requirements

  • NICET Level II Certification (minimum)
  • Active certification in one or more of the following categories: ITWBS, ITFAS, and/or FA
  • Willingness to obtain certification in both water-based and fire alarm systems
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent education and experience)
  • At least 1 year of experience in healthcare facilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics
  • Ability to obtain a computer network account (favorable National Agency Check and required security training)

  • State licensing in alarm systems

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test smoke detection and fire suppression systems
  • Perform minor repairs to fire alarm wiring, panels, suppression, and peripheral equipment
  • Conduct fire pump testing, fire department connection testing, standpipe inspections, hydrostatic testing, and annual flow testing
  • Troubleshoot hazards, defects, and necessary repairs
  • Inspect and test cathodic protection, communications, and grounding systems
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and safety standards
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports using Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF
  • Maintain organized documentation in company share folders
  • Track and submit travel expenses and required paperwork
  • Research materials, requisition supplies, and prepare purchase documentation
  • Complete company training and maintain required certifications (including continuing education)
  • Report directly to the Fire Team Manager
  • Coordinate with site managers to ensure patient and care safety
  • Scheduled and unscheduled overtime may be required.
