About The Position

MCS of Tampa is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician in Tampa, Florida. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits. The Fire Alarm Service Technician is responsible for the service, troubleshooting, testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire alarm and life safety systems in occupied facilities. This service-focused role requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently in the field, and effective communication with customers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and internal teams to ensure system reliability, code compliance, and customer satisfaction. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • FASA/BASA certification required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Florida State Jessica Lunsford Act (JLA) badge required.
  • Minimum of five years of fire alarm service experience, including troubleshooting, programming, and modification of existing systems.
  • Proficiency with NFPA 72, Life Safety Code 101, and the International Building Code.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces as required.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET certification preferred.
  • FCC GROL certification preferred.
  • Manufacturer certifications preferred, including but not limited to Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, Notifier, FCI-Gamewell, Simplex, Siemens, and EST.
  • Other life safety or systems-related certifications preferred.
  • Experience servicing systems manufactured by Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, Notifier, FCI-Gamewell, Simplex, Siemens, EST, or similar platforms is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and service fire alarm and life safety systems.
  • Perform annual, semi-annual, and quarterly test and inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements.
  • Interpret system drawings, as-built documentation, submittals, specifications, schematics, and manufacturer manuals.
  • Identify system deficiencies, document findings, and provide clear service reports and corrective action recommendations.
  • Program, reprogram, and modify existing fire alarm systems to support service work and code compliance.
  • Respond to service calls involving fire alarm systems and related low-voltage systems including ERCES/BDA, card access, CCTV, intrusion, and nurse call systems.
  • Support monitoring account setup, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate service activities with customers, facility representatives, AHJs, and internal project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
