About The Position

As a technician at Johnson Controls, you will be responsible for installing, programming, configuring, commissioning, and servicing Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Systems. This includes working with various systems such as Simplex, Fike, Kidde, Inergen, Sapphire, FM-200, and CO2, among others. Your role will involve executing projects on time, resolving discrepancies, and coordinating installation activities with other trades. You will also be responsible for instructing and training customers on the operation of the equipment and ensuring excellent customer service throughout the process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Three (3) or more years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems.
  • Experience and knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprints and operational/product manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter usage, and commissioning devices.
  • Able to obtain and retain any licenses required by National, State, and local codes.
  • Able and willing to perform physical labor including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 70 lbs.
  • Able and willing to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions.
  • Able and willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and nights.
  • Experienced at multitasking on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to lead and work well with team members.
  • Able and willing to adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
  • Able and willing to travel overnight if required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, configure, commission, and service Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Systems.
  • Execute projects on time and within allocated installation hours.
  • Work with the project manager to resolve discrepancies and coordination problems.
  • Read and interpret complicated blueprints, diagrams, and operational product manuals.
  • Coordinate installation activities with all trades to optimize installation time.
  • Attend all required site meetings.
  • Instruct and train customers on the functional operation of the equipment/system.
  • Conduct simulations and answer questions.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills.
  • Complete project documentation in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and SimplexGrinnell safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
