About The Position

The Inspector position involves performing inspections on various fire protection systems, including Fire Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Fire Extinguishers, Hood Suppression Systems, and Special Hazards. The role requires a strong understanding of applicable NFPA standards and the ability to complete all inspection-related documentation accurately. Inspectors are expected to maintain necessary licenses, perform inspections in a cost-effective manner, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. The position also includes mentoring lower-level technicians and leading inspections and special projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum education of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Required NICET level for their trade and applicable/current TX Dept of Insurance license.
  • Strong understanding of materials, tools equipment, and procedures used in the installation process.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards.
  • Current and clear TX DL and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Install/service experience in Sprinkler systems (minimum of 5 years).
  • Install/service experience in Alarm systems (minimum of 3 years).
  • Install/service experience in Extinguisher systems (minimum of 2 years).
  • Install/service experience in Hood Suppression systems (minimum of 3 years).
  • Install/service experience in Special Hazard systems (minimum of 5 years and must have FAL license).

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner while inspecting structures which contain Fire Sprinkler Systems.
  • Correctly complete all Inspection related documentation.
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA and common materials and installation processes.
  • Maintain RME-I license as well as obtain and maintain TCEQ backflow licensing (B-PAT).
  • Properly perform needed sprinkler system inspections and all associated components including Wet, Dry, Fire Pumps, Pre-action, Deluge, Antifreeze Loops, backflows, etc.
  • Cross-train additional licensing duties in order to obtain multiple licenses.
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards for Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner while inspecting structures which contain Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Properly perform needed alarm system inspections and all associated components.
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards and manufacturer installation manuals for Fire Extinguishers and Hood Suppression Systems.
  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner while inspecting structures which contain Fire Extinguishers, Hood Suppression Systems, and/or Special Hazard.
  • Lead large inspections and special projects with multiple techs or solo.
  • Assist and/or fill in for inspection manager as required.
  • Mentor lower level technicians during their quest for additional licenses and knowledge.
