Requirements

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in fire alarm field service, installation or design.
  • Strong emphasis on fire alarm field experience and proficiency in software applications for technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Government / Provincial Fire Alarm Code Requirements.
  • Proven technical aptitude in Fire Alarm Systems with a thorough understanding of industry practices and standards.
  • Advanced computer skills in relevant software applications.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Level 1 or NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems is preferred, or the ability to obtain it within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Create precise and comprehensive fire alarm system designs and submittal packages that align with project specifications.
  • Organize and plan workload while mentoring less experienced design team members.
  • Facilitate reviews of initial designs of medium complexity, ensuring value-engineered and code-compliant solutions.
  • Collaborate to produce detailed technical submissions, including schematics and drawings.
  • Oversee preparation of project submissions for medium-complexity systems.
  • Conduct detailed calculations and analyses to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Participate in pre/post-project design meetings and customer/site coordination meetings.
  • Develop and refine bills of materials based on designs.
  • Examine completed submissions for equipment application and compliance.
  • Provide strategic support to Project Managers to maintain and improve project margins.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers, contractors, and authorities regarding fire alarm systems.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager during system commissioning to verify performance.
  • Support field technical staff and subcontractors with technical inquiries.
  • Offer pre-sales estimate support to sales and project management teams.
  • Mentor team members in project deliverables, focusing on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform related duties on assigned projects as needed.
  • Review work products produced by team members to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Monitor actual hours worked to ensure accurate coding to projects.
