JOB SUMMARY : The Fire Alarm Designer position is responsible for operating with minimal supervision while completing project designs and submittals. Expected to be very familiar with SFP’s quality documents, procedures, and work instructions as they related to the design function. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES : Design fire detection/alarm, low voltage/security, etc. using working knowledge of fire alarm codes. Adept with battery and voltage drop calculations. Prepare submittal packages to send to (AHJ) Authority Having Jurisdiction and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval. With assistance from the Design Manager, or others, perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure. Understand and follow SFP’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures. Employee must know where all related safety documentation is at all times on each project. Periodically attend seminars or similar education/training sessions to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes. Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner. Other duties may be assigned.
