Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required; NICET Level IV certification in Fire Alarm Systems is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in designing fire alarm systems.
  • Low voltage/DAS Design experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD and any other relevant design software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fire protection systems and applicable codes (NFPA, IBC, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote setting, managing time effectively and meeting project deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify detailed fire alarm and suppression systems adhering to local, state, and national codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Perform field surveys and attend project specific meetings.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of architectural and engineering drawings to ensure compatibility of design.
  • Provide expert technical advice and solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and client teams to ensure specifications and designs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Manage and oversee multiple design projects from concept through completion.
  • Obtain permits as required, including all related duties such as preparation, delivery, corrections, etc.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the Hiller technicians and office staff to facilitate effective communications and exceptional customer service.
  • Stay updated with latest technologies and changes in fire protection regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
