The Fire Alarm Designer will contribute to the creation of safe and efficient fire alarm systems. The Fire Alarm Designer will utilize expertise in fire safety codes, engineering principles, and industry standards to design customized fire alarm systems tailored to our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for enhancing fire safety in various environments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a CAD Drafter, with a strong focus on electrical or low-voltage systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is a must, minimum of one year.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical plans.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Self-learner, self-motivated, dedicated, organized, and a team player.
  • Must have good communication and organization skills.
  • Be able to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems and their components is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 72) is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and update detailed drawings for fire alarm systems using AutoCAD.
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure drawings accurately reflect design intent.
  • Prepare drawing sets that include floor plans, riser diagrams, calculations, and wiring schematics.
  • Prepare submittal booklets that include data sheets, CSFM listings, and record of completion forms.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes and standards, such as NFPA 72, California Fire Code and local authority regulations.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Perform quality checks on your work to identify and correct any errors.
  • Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
  • Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
  • Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
  • Prepare submittals and material lists.
  • Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
  • Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
