About The Position

The Fire Alarm and Security Technician position is responsible for safely installing, programming, and maintaining card access, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems equipment & wiring. This position will install individual components and various wiring throughout sites, following necessary electrical codes & procedures, and according to instructions provided. This position will also test various systems & components, repairing as necessary according to system specifications.

Requirements

Excellent technical skills (installation, repair, and troubleshooting)
Knowledge of current electrical/system codes & regulations
Strong attention to safety and detail
Must pass background check and have clean driving record
Knowledge of basic electricity theory

Responsibilities

Install and or service low voltage systems such as access control, video, intrusion alarm, fire alarm and intercoms.
Inspect Fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 requirements.
Install cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping. Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors. Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant electrical codes
Demonstrate systems for customers, and explain details such as the causes and consequences of false alarms
Perform installation or service in accordance with work orders, building plans, and manufacture installation manuals. Determine material requirements and installation procedures
Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features to ensure proper functioning or to diagnose malfunctions
Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or faulty equipment.
Maintain & protect company vehicle, tools, hardware, and equipment to be installed on projects
