About The Position

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Fire & Access Control Systems Technician on the Dahlonega campus. This position installs, repairs, and maintains electronic life safety systems on the UNG North campus. Systems include access control, both electronic and physical access, locksmith support to include doors they are installed upon, fire alarm and suppression systems, security cameras and alarm systems, ADA door openers, and emergency intercom/call boxes. Day-to-day job responsibilities require a cell phone for frequent response to urgent UNG business at any time of the day or night. Will be required to respond to campus call-ins to make repairs when required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • A combination of 2 years experience in any of the trades listed above.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in locksmith duties is preferred.
  • Some college or technical school preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs, and maintains access control systems both electronic and physical access; locks, keys, and electronic locking devices on internal and external doors, door and jamb maintenance, external and internal sign installation and maintenance, limited painting, and carpentry.
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of electronic life safety system services both in house and in coordination with contractors.
  • Maintaining detailed records of inspections and work performed.
  • Works closely with Public Safety, Disability Services, Card Services, Project Managers and campus safety officer.
  • Performs duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
