AdvancedMD is a unified cloud suite of medical office software hosted on Amazon Web Services/AWS including practice management, electronic health records, and patient engagement, and offers managed medical billing services for independent practices. AdvancedMD serves an expansive national footprint of 65,000 practitioners across 14,000 practices and 900 independent medical billing companies. 8.8M insurance claims are processed every month on the AdvancedMD billing platform! Role Summary Are you a cloud architecture expert with a passion for financial accountability and cost optimization? We are seeking a FinOps Solution Architect to lead the design, governance, and optimization of our cloud financial management strategy across AWS and Snowflake environments. In this role, you will serve as the technical and financial authority for cloud cost architecture, embedding FinOps best practices into engineering culture and decision-making processes. You will design cost-optimized reference architectures, build scalable reporting and allocation frameworks, and provide actionable financial insights that maximize the value of every cloud dollar spent. Partnering closely with engineering, data, finance, and executive stakeholders, you’ll ensure that cloud investments align with business objectives while maintaining transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure operations, or a related technical discipline with strong cost management focus
  • 4+ years of hands-on AWS cost optimization experience, including CUR data analysis, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and service-level pricing models
  • 2+ years of experience optimizing Snowflake costs, including warehouse configuration, credit monitoring, and performance tuning
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for cost analysis, automation, and reporting development
  • Demonstrated experience building tagging strategies, cost allocation models, and chargeback/showback frameworks
  • Working knowledge of API infrastructure pricing models and data transfer economics
  • Experience reviewing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation) for financial impact
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex cost data into executive-level insights

Nice To Haves

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional certification (or equivalent experience)
  • AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, or Cloud Financial Management specialty)
  • SnowPro Core or Advanced certification
  • Experience with Apigee or similar API management platforms and understanding of API traffic cost optimization
  • Experience with third-party FinOps platforms (CloudHealth, Kubecost, Vantage, or similar)
  • Background building custom cost analytics solutions using AWS Athena, QuickSight, or similar BI tools
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container-level cost optimization strategies
  • Experience in healthcare, financial services, or other regulated industries with compliance-driven infrastructure requirements
  • Familiarity with modern data engineering workflows (Glue, dbt, Snowpipe) and assessing their cost efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Architect and mature the enterprise FinOps practice, defining reference architectures, policies, and governance models for AWS and Snowflake cost management
  • Design and implement cost visibility and reporting solutions using AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), Snowflake Account Usage views, and BI tools
  • Analyze AWS service-level spend (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions, EventBridge) and implement optimization strategies including right-sizing, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and spot usage models
  • Optimize Snowflake credit consumption through warehouse tuning, auto-suspend/auto-resume policies, performance monitoring, and resource governance
  • Develop and enforce tagging standards, cost allocation methodologies, and chargeback/showback frameworks to drive accountability across business units
  • Monitor and optimize API and integration-layer costs, including API Gateway usage, data transfer fees, and compute consumption
  • Partner with data engineering, platform, and application teams to review architecture patterns, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code templates for financial efficiency
  • Produce monthly and quarterly cloud spend forecasts, variance analyses, and executive-ready financial summaries with strategic recommendations
  • Design cost anomaly detection and alerting mechanisms using AWS Budgets, CloudWatch, SNS, and automated workflows
  • Conduct FinOps maturity assessments and build continuous improvement roadmaps aligned with industry best practices
