About The Position

Key Technology in Walla Walla, WA is a worldwide leader in food processing technology, specializing in innovations for processed fruits and vegetables, nuts, dried fruit, and fresh-cut produce. The company provides increased control, continuous processing, sorting, automated inspection, specialized conveying, and grading and sizing solutions. They are seeking a Finishing Tech to join their production team. This role involves deburring, polishing, grinding, and finishing metal items to achieve rounded corners or a grained finish using hand-held grinders and buffers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months of related experience.

  • Competence in reading and fully understanding manufacturing drawings.
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to contribute to the team’s performance.
  • Confidence with measurements, tolerances, and the use of both imperial measurement and metric system.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety while performing all job duties.
  • Perform necessary tasks to produce the required surface finish on parts and assemblies.
  • Follow instructions given by Supervisor.
  • Understand and operate machines at production level with Supervision.
  • Read job blueprints or router to determine finish requirements when needed.
  • Work jobs according to the due dates provided on the routers unless otherwise instructed by Supervisor.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges and imperfections to attain finish requirement.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, including grinding shield and gloves, while grinding.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance on machines.
  • Stay in work area and work well with others.
  • Set up machines, stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces to next work center.
  • Properly use barcode system to reflect hours charged to job.
  • Contact Supervisor or Weld Lead if there is a problem with job or equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
