In this role, you will be responsible for leading/directing railcar production for Service Center Finishing Department. Accountable for leadership of skilled labor employees including all aspects of safety, quality, production and cost. Ensures the highest quality work in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced production environment, preferably with 2-4 years mechanical finishing experience
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights
  • Must be able to walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to sit/work in front of a computer for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimal travel may be required within the US and Canada

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and supervises shift production in accordance with priority goals and availability of resources to ensure adequate and timely completed repairs. Performs in process quality audits.
  • Communicates work area status/activities to the Production Manager(s). Communicates with other work areas to facilitate smooth car flow.
  • Uses technical experience, expertise and problem solving ability to achieve and maintain a quality repair. Maintains an effective work force by training, counseling and motivating agreement workers.
  • Ensure that all necessary administrative work is complete and accurate.
