JOB SUMMARY: The finishing operator is responsible for the machine setup, adjustments, make-readies, assist with maintenance, troubleshooting quality issues, and operation of their assigned folding gluing machine. While operating the machine, they are responsible for safely and efficiently manufacturing high quality folding cartons at or above target run speeds while minimizing waste and downtime. The machine operator is the leader of the crew and oversees the activities of the feeder packers working on that machine. The operator must obtain and review the job ticket for items, quantities, caliper of the paperboard, and any special instruction that is informational for running the order to specification. The case specification must also be reviewed to make sure that the instructions are clear and concise prior to running the order. The operator is responsible for ensuring all make-readies are put on as quickly as possible. The operator inspects the product quality including folded score caliper, proper gluing and stacking, carton and score alignment, and case fit, and ensures that the machine is in good running condition. The operator ensures that the Leary glue and mix detection system is constantly functioning correctly. The operator is also responsible for shutting down the machine if it is to be left unattended. This position reports to the Finishing Lead, Shift Supervisor and Finishing Manager.
