The Finishing Operator is responsible for adjusting the finishing equipment to process flat carton job orders, ensuring production goals are met. This role involves optimizing equipment and staffing, maintaining product quality, training support roles, performing minor maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement programs like LEAN, 5’s, and Six Sigma. The employee is also expected to follow all Safe Quality Foods (SQF) procedures and report any unsafe conditions.

  • Minimum of 3 months in an Operator Trainee position

Responsibilities

  • Adjust the finishing equipment in order to process a particular flat carton job orders to meet production goals.
  • Assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.
  • Optimize equipment and staffing to meet production goals.
  • Performs equipment operations, tests, and change-overs of the Folder Gluers associated with converting operations.
  • Is responsible for the quality of the finished product produced by the Folder Gluer.
  • Operators will be responsible for training of support roles within the Finishing Department.
  • Tests and inspects products, performance, configurations, and equipment as required to ensure consistent quality and operational standards are maintained.
  • Verifies and communicates both product standards and work standards to crew to execute production.
  • Maintains equipment by performing minor maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, adjustments, repairs, and authorized modifications.
  • Operates all Folder Gluers and related peripheral/supporting equipment for the purpose of manufacturing folding cartons.
  • Maintains equipment.
  • Interprets and documents standards related to equipment and product performance.
  • Support and Develop GPI’s efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Performs other organizational duties as required.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
