About The Position

As a Finishing Operator, you may be responsible for functions occurring within the Finishing operations that include packing, core cutting, and material handling, operating a slitter, or floating between any of these listed positions. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply for this position. Those currently in the same department (Coating, Finishing, Shipping, etc.) at the hiring location will receive first consideration. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong service and quality focus
  • Ability to address issues effectively when problems arise
  • Initiative to understand root causes and communicate/educate team in a timely manner
  • Willingness to work overtime, including short-notice requests
  • Proficiency with computer applications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect general appearance of finished product
  • Keep area supplied with necessary packaging materials
  • Prepare cores for machine operators
  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity
  • Perform 5S duties and audits
  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed
  • Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities
  • Sort, label, and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations
  • Track multiple orders being packed at one time
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Print slitting diagrams
  • Cut 3" and 6" Cores for all Slitters
  • Retrieve, Replenish & Deliver Core
  • Check Cores for Accuracy, Quality of Cuts & Adequate Quantity for Productions
  • Dump blue bins at the end of the shift and when necessary
  • Dump recyclables daily
  • Perform Forklift Inspection
  • Trim Compactor Controls & Operational Procedures
  • Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finishing, Shipping, Receiving and manufacturing areas
  • Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System
  • Support inventory accuracy: Complete warehouse and departmental cycle counts and correct discrepancies
  • Help manage winding drum and rack inventories
  • Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets and other consumable supplies to/from production areas, as required
  • Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping
  • Perform all assignments, duties and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices
  • Encourage others to do so
  • Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately
