Position Purpose: The Finishing Operator Assistant (Feeder/Catcher, Padlocker) places cartons into the machine feed (Feeder) or collects carts at the end process, spot quality checks, and packs completed cartons.

Requirements

  • Duties require standing (except breaks and lunch) with little lower body movement throughout working shift for 12 hours.
  • Visual acuity at short distances. Needed to detect variances in job numbers, register and collator marks.
  • Color vision needed to detect inappropriate color of product.
  • Lifting and loading up to 20 lb. bundles of corrugate into case erector.
  • Able to lift 25-35 lb. boxes continuously and 50 lbs. occasionally to cover Palletizer position.

Responsibilities

  • The Assistant is responsible for feeding, palletizing and operation of the banding equipment.
  • Responsible for stacking pallets to the specified work instructions and pallet diagrams.
  • Responsible to review and confirm Pallet “S” Tags, Pallet log and Work Instructions all agree.
  • Confirm that labels are correct and facing out, as applicable, on all finishing pallets. Also making sure corrugated is all lined up and matches in appearance.
  • Responsible for operating electric Pallet Jacks safely to move WIP or finished pallets.
  • The Palletizer will need to lift and place cases on pallets keeping the palletizing loop clear.
  • Responsible for inspecting and packing cartons when needed.
  • Assemble corrugated according to customer specifications.
  • Responsible to Re-stock materials for the following crews, which include but not limited to, making lids, corrugated stocked and also keeping the tables stocked up with tape.
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
