The Finishing Manager provides leadership to the Finishing Department, supervisors, and production work teams, serving as a member of the site leadership team and reporting to the Operations Manager. This role involves facilitating department meetings, ensuring alignment with company direction, and developing the supervisory team. The Finishing Manager, in collaboration with the team, is responsible for safety, quality, productivity, equipment condition, and housekeeping within the department.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in leadership role
  • 3+ years in manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe work environment; partners with EH&S Manager to develop and implement safety procedures aligned with plant goals.
  • Has authority and responsibility to halt any process that does not meet safety, food safety, or quality standards.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with quality standards, working with CI and Quality teams to identify and address issues.
  • Accountable for achieving production targets, quality benchmarks, and operating within budget.
  • Leads and manages departmental performance, including coaching, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Supports Production Supervisors and oversees scheduling, material flow, equipment maintenance, and problem resolution.
  • Serves as a communication link between the department and upper management.
  • Maintains technical knowledge of department machinery to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborates with other department leaders to align strategies and resolve operational challenges.
  • Champions GPI's Mission, Vision, and Core Values, and actively supports LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement initiatives.
