About The Position

The Finishing Assistant will be responsible for filling a variety of supporting roles to the colourist/editor. They will be responsible for assisting in the completion of TV/Feature projects from ingest to delivery. Primarily they will learn new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow in mind. In this position they actively provide support and solutions for the colourist/editoral team.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the media/post-production industry.
  • Previous hands-on operator experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, and a great team player.
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no notice.
  • Ability to work on weekends, as necessary.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, as necessary.
  • A professional level English language skill, i.e. written and verbal.
  • Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Capacity and interest to learn new material as needed in fast-paced and technical professional environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Adobe Premiere, OSD/Transkoder, and Avid knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Assist colour and display systems that enable colourists to perform efficiently and productively during sessions. This may include but is not limited to, colour tracing, vfx inserts, cut revisions, simple VFX work and similar tasks.
  • Support finishing editors so they may perform efficiently and productively during and before sessions. This may include but is not limited to, locating and consolidating media, renders, including master deliverables, and qc fixes.
  • Collaborate and communicate with fellow colleagues to obtain job instructions and solutions to meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable of the various flavors of colour spaces (P3DCI, P3D65, XYZ …)
  • Operating DaVinici Resolve or similar applications, Sony X300, Barco 4K/2K, and video routers.
  • Help support new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow.
  • Maintain outstanding levels of oversight of deliverables manufactured within the finishing process.
  • Drive client supervised sessions; screenings, visual effects reviews and colour-correction sessions / editorial reviews as directed by colourist/editor and/or production management.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team. Document workflows and help train incoming new hires.
