About The Position

Gray’s Specialty Equipment segment offers a comprehensive range of expert services, including design, manufacturing, integration, installation, and maintenance of some of the most advanced systems in the food, industrial, pharmaceutical, and vacuum science markets. From components to fully integrated equipment, we provide purpose-built solutions that integrate seamlessly into larger facility design-build, expansion, and retrofit projects. The Specialty Equipment segment includes Anderson Dahlen, located in Ramsey, MN and Waconia, MN. Anderson Dahlen specializes in stainless steel and specialty alloy fabrication and is ISO 9001:2015 certified, as well as ASME, AWS, and PED compliant. The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; certifications; as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $25 to $35 hourly/annually. Hours of position are 6 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION: Performs a full range of rough grinding, polishing and metal finishing operations on components, manufactured parts and assemblies in accordance with prescribed specifications.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED, preferred.
A minimum of 5+ years in Finishing or related experience.
A high level of attention to detail is a must as aesthetic appearance is critical.
Working towards completing training Crane and/or forklift trained and competent in operation and rigging.
Demonstrated skill and experience in Finishing processes.
Must be able to select the proper abrasives for each application to achieve the specified finish using the most efficient process.
Must have good dexterity and hand eye coordination.
Must be comfortable bending, squatting, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling.
Ability to use profilometers and other measuring tools.
Good verbal and written communication
Maintain a high level of quality and efficiency.
Ability to train others.
Ability to relate well to others and gain the respect of co-workers.
Ability to problem solve and develop finishing processes and methods.
Displays a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.
Must be reliable and punctual.

Responsibilities

Follow safe work practices and OSHA requirements.
Grinds, files, or sands surfaces of metal items using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of metal finishing techniques: Examines and feels surface of metal to detect defects, such as dents, scratches, or material defects.
Use a variety of hand tools and manual techniques to smooth surfaces to grind and blend to specified finish.
Ability able to set-up and operate straight-line sanders, buffers, timesavers, and hand-held grinders and polishers.
Complete projects within established guidelines while exceeding and efficiently within time frames according to our quality standards.
Understanding of blueprints to perform job and customer requirements.
Read and understand written or verbal work instructions to complete tasks.
Understand and follow all company policies and procedures.
May lead teams to create cost saving measures and/or ideas to improve quality and service.
Monitor quality of goods produced.
Ability to train others.
Ability to use equipment and stage work independently.
Ability to develop finishing processes and techniques while maintaining high quality standards.
Other duties as assigned.
