About The Position
Southern Land Company is a national real estate development and construction firm headquartered in Nashville, TN. The Dozer Operator will work on a long-term project for the SLC Infrastructure team in the Storyvale community in Nolensville, TN. This position requires the operation of construction equipment to perform civil and heavy highway-related projects. The candidate will be expected to function independently or with minimal supervision for short periods of time. The essential functions of the position include being prompt, reliable, and dependable with the work schedule. The operator must demonstrate the ability to perform daily equipment lubrication as per the operator's manual and complete required paperwork, including the Operators Daily Report. Proper care and maintenance of company equipment are crucial, and the operator will frequently work long and unusual hours. Communication with the shop mechanic, foreman, and peers regarding equipment is essential. The operator must meet performance and technical standards required to qualify for the Level 1 position and should not hesitate to ask questions if they do not understand a task or how to perform it safely. Following all company safety policies and ensuring that all duties are performed safely is a critical aspect of this role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of machine control systems such as Trimble and Topcon, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office. They should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and time management abilities, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively. The candidate must be able to prioritize work effectively and ask for clarification when necessary, especially under pressure with tight time constraints.
