The Fingerprint Technician I/II/III position within the Tulare County Sheriff's Department is a critical role responsible for the management and analysis of fingerprint data. The technician will evaluate latent prints recovered from crime scenes to determine their usability for comparison to known prints and for entry into the ALPS. Additionally, the role involves performing fingerprint comparisons using magnifying glasses and photographic equipment, maintaining the chain of custody for prints and evidence, and preparing detailed reports on findings. The position is structured into three levels, with increasing responsibilities. Level II technicians will analyze and compare fingerprints related to criminal activities and perform specialized processing of evidence. Level III technicians will inspect the work of staff to ensure quality and accuracy, and may also coordinate and monitor the work of others.
